Nejat Satı establishes a plastic relationship with painting that reflects the industrial spirit of the age. The artist, who graduated from the 9 Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department has had solo exhibitions in and out of the country, and has entered represented in many private and corporate collections. He created an abstract painting language that becomes plastic on the surface centered on the unique combination of the gel medium used as an auxiliary material with the paint in his production process. The artist did not hesitate to produce his paintings without the brush, but also with the technical tools he acquired during his studio experience and with an attitude in which the body plays an active role. By using glow and fluorescent colors, he constructs his paintings open to display both in daylight and in the dark with artificial lighting (blacklight), and establishes an artistic language that is open not only to watch but also to experience.
With his dynamic approach, the artist has produced an original catalog consisting of dense and layered series with distilled and minimal series over time. In these series, color sometimes creates monochrome themes that deepen into the surface, and sometimes makes the movement and dynamism feel so much that it overflows the surface. Transparency under all circumstances, different interactions with light, making the sense of volume visible through painting and material have been among the artist’s main pursuits. Son of a pharmacist family; Satı has made micro-biological and bodily factors an element of the painting to reflect the changes in human psychology, which has been his main concern in various periods. In addition, the artist chose to shape the emotional states of the age we live in, which constantly reshapes individuals, through the forms of medicine boxes and the pills he presents in an abstract form. The “broken glass” paintings positioned in an intertwined manner with the concept of melancholy by the artist, also present the effects of the social fault lines of our age on the soul of the individual as a layered pictorial experience.
Nejat Satı, with his “Katharsis” series, which he started as of 2020 carries the productions of different periods to a more liberal, intense and risking stage of getting out of control. Thus, the experiences of the production process of more than ten years were intertwined with an inner purification and a pictorial deepening, establishing a new mentality. As a result of this concentration, the artist currently continues the production of an international artist book.
