ARTIST / Artist

Ali Cihan Kayalıoğlu

Born in 1988, the artist graduated from Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramics Department in 2013. Kayalıoğlu, who won many awards with his works and participated in both solo and group exhibitions, states that unconscious human behaviors are the basis of his productions. He chooses to explore the intangible boundaries that we do not actually see but feel deeply, such as stereotyped roles, responsibilities and prejudices that people are exposed to due to their existence and living space in society, and the emotions behind them. Using the freedom of shaping offered by ceramic as texture and form, the artist conveys his emotions in a surreal language. He adds that the harmony of the natural structure of ceramic with shaping by hand is one of the biggest reasons for its integration with ceramics. Benefiting from three-dimensional design and shaping technologies that can be integrated with ceramics as well as shaping by hand, the artist also incorporates different materials such as metal, wood and epoxy into his works.

Ali Cihan Kayalıoğlu lives and works in Mersin.
