Born in Bavaria in 1963, Ackermann is both a painter and installation artist. He is known for his cartoonish abstractions. He is mainly using the themes of tourism, globalization and urbanism. Since his art life, he has created large-scale dynamic installations consisting of paintings, drawings, photographs, murals, sculptures and billboards. His work often focuses on the double side of tourism – the charm, speed and consumption of international travel, as well as the damage, architectural scarring and garbage the travellers leaves behind. The artist works and lives in Belin.
