Markus Lüpertz (b.1941)

A German painter and sculptor, Lüpertz was born in 1941. After studying at the Krefeld Art School, he completed his education at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. His distinctive paintings and sculptures blend figuration and abstraction perfectly, and he is considered among the leading representatives of the neo-Expressionist movement. Lüpertz’s works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and Germany’s Von der Heydt Museum. The artist lives and works in Germany.
