Neo Rauch (d.1960)

Born in 1960 in Germany, the artist studied painting at the Hochschule für Graphic und Buchkunst Leipzig. He also worked as a professor at the same school. His works are characterized by a style committed to the social realism of communism. Especially American critics recognize post-communist surrealism with its contemporary style in his paintings. It has been added to the collections of museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum, Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin.
