Neşet Günal (b.1923- d.2022)

Born in 1923, Günal graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1946. She studied fresco at the “Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Beaux Arts” in Paris with a state scholarship in 1948. Günal, who has been continuing his education since this period, became a professor in 1970.

The artist, who tells about the barren lands and hardworking people of Central Anatolia, where he was born and grew up, has determined a style that is evident with his technique and interpretation. He adopted a social understanding of art by painting Anatolian people with difficult living conditions.

It is known as the pioneer of figurative painting and one of the classics of Turkish painting. He died in 2002 in Istanbul.
